Upon graduation from Crowley High School in 2002, Carrizales made an immediate impact on the McMurry Baseball program. He holds the school record for most games played at 179 – along with current Hall of Honor member Joe Fichera (1996-2000) – and made the most of them.Originally from Fort Worth, Carrizales started his career during the 2003 season and wasted no time going to work, earning American Southwest Conference Freshman of the Year. From there, he became a four-time all-conference shortstop, a four-time all-region shortstop and a 2005 All-American.Outside of being the all-time leader for career games played, he also has the most career at-bats (675), hits (252), doubles (56), triples (16) and defensive assists in one game (11) in program history. He is also one of three players to hit for the cycle at McMurry, doing so on March 10, 2006 against Sul Ross State as a senior. In that game, he went 5-for-6 with two triples, a homer, a double and single for 13 total bases. Carrizales is one of the most consistent hitters in program history, ranking sixth all-time with a .373 batting average. He also ranks second in career runs (181), second in total bases (379), fifth in RBI (135) and among the top 20 in walks, home runs and slugging percentage.Showing his abilities away from shortstop, Carrizales also made occasional appearances on the mound as a starter and closer. He is the all-time leader with a low 2.41 ERA in 31 appearances. He also had a strikeout rate of 7.09 per nine innings, ranking 12th all-time among qualified pitchers.During his sophomore season in 2004, McMurry went on to win the American Southwest Conference championship. He led the team that year with 62 hits and 13 doubles at the plate, along with three saves on the mound. For the other three years he played, McMurry remained a conference contender and enjoyed three winning seasons. Some of the teammates he mentioned that impacted him were Josh Lee and Seth Ardoin, citing them as upperclassmen that made him want to work harder. He also mentioned his high school and college teammate Greg Erickson stating “we won a lot of games together.” He also highlighted past players that inspired his legacy, such as Joe Fichera and Ralph Romero.Carrizales went on to graduate from McMurry in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree focused in multidisciplinary studies. Immediately out of college, Carrizales began working at Enterprise-Rent-A-Car before taking a job with Nestle Water from 2008-2009.Going back to his roots, Carrizales returned to the place he knows best – the diamond – and embarked on a coaching career that has now spanned over a decade. In 2010, he became the assistant baseball coach for his alma mater, Crowley High School. He later became the head coach in 2012 and has held that title ever since. In 2019, he won his 100th game as head coach.
