Induction Year: 2008

In just the fourth year of existence – and second season in the Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association – the McMurry football team shocked the TIAA by winning the league championship. It will forever stand as the first-ever conference championship in all McM athletics history, as well.

A roster of 40 men represented the Indians, 10 of whom were veterans of previous campaigns for the fledgling program. The squad even endured the tragic loss of its senior team captain Ovid Donaldson (also a member of McM’s Hall of Honor), who was killed in a diving accident in a swimming pool the preceding summer.

How dominant was the McMurry squad? Not a single TIAA opponent was able to score a touchdown on the Indians the entire season! They finished the year with a 4-1-2 mark, overall.
